Why to See Your Dentist Before Summer Vacation

When setting out on a trip, getting dental care might be the last thing on your mind. Your suitcases are packed, your itinerary is planned, and your kids are restless: Why add a checkup and cleaning to your preparations when you already seem ready?

Starting your summer vacation with a visit to your Dallas dentist can actually make things more fun in the long run. To prove it, here are four reasons to see your dental practitioner before starting the fun!

You’ll Have a Great Vacation Smile

Most worthwhile summer getaways include sightseeing, photography, and a desire to remember the experience. So, if those things matter to you, you’ll want a perfect smile for the occasion.

Your dentist, thankfully, can give you said smile. See them beforehand, then, so your vacation memories will be of white and bright teeth, rather than icky and stained ones.

You’ll Protect Your Teeth from Damage

While summer foods and drinks are often tasty, they aren’t exactly suitable for oral health. Seasonal alcohols, fruit juices, and sodas are usually acidic and erode tooth enamel.

However, professional treatment before having these items will keep your smile healthy. You could focus on living it up instead of worrying about eroding teeth!

You’ll Help Prevent Dental Emergencies

You want to have fun in the sun during your journey, not mouth pain. A dental emergency that eats into the time you allotted for leisure just isn’t ideal.

A checkup before your journey will help avoid this scenario. While not all are preventable, dental emergencies during your trip aren’t as likely soon after a dentist’s procedure. You wouldn’t want to end up in an out-of-state emergency room, so don’t put off your next visit!

You’ll Find the Visit Convenient

Given that these balmy days tend to lack a rigid structure, visiting the dentist’s office is more feasible this time of year.

A full-time office worker might use their initial vacation time for dental care. After all, scheduling an appointment that way is easier than trying to book one around weekends or evenings. A checkup and cleaning could be made for kids during this time, too, since they won’t have to miss valuable time at school for it.

Even if you want to start your summer vacation the moment you get a free day, see your dentist first — you’ll be glad you did!
